Lloyds Bank and cash machine to close in Ilkeston this week

Lloyds Bank will close its Ilkeston branch on Thursday (5 November), bringing its presence in the town centre to an end.

The Market Place branch will shut permanently as part of a wider programme of closures by Lloyds Banking Group. Its cash machine will also close on the same day.

The decision was announced in June, with the bank citing changes in the way customers manage their money, particularly the growing use of online and mobile banking.

NatWest will be the only remaining bank branch in Ilkeston town centre. Nationwide and Nottingham Building Society will continue to operate as building societies in the town.

Customers who use Lloyds for everyday banking will need to make alternative arrangements from Friday.

Lloyds customers can continue to use online and telephone banking, while Post Office branches provide services including cash withdrawals, deposits and balance enquiries for eligible accounts.

The loss of Lloyds marks a further reduction in banking facilities in Ilkeston, following years of branch closures across the country.

Although more customers now manage their finances digitally, the continuing withdrawal of high street banking services has raised concerns about access for older residents, businesses and people who rely on face-to-face assistance.

The Ilkeston branch and its cash machine will close permanently on Thursday 5 November.
