A new McDonald’s restaurant is set to open at Giltbrook Shopping Park this month, with the fast-food giant confirming an opening date of Tuesday 17 December.
The new outlet will be located on IKEA Way, Giltbrook, NG16 2RP, adding to the growing number of food and retail options at the busy out-of-town shopping destination, which is frequently used by residents from Ilkeston and the wider Erewash area.
Traffic concerns already being raised
While some residents have welcomed the news, others have raised concerns about traffic congestion around the shopping park, which is already known for long queues at peak times and during weekends.
One local commenter said the new restaurant would be “great with all the extra traffic jams,” reflecting a wider concern about the pressure on surrounding roads, particularly during busy shopping periods.
