At Ilkeston News, our aim is simple: to share the latest local stories, shine a light on the people who make this town brilliant, and keep our community informed about the things that genuinely matter.
We’ve spent countless hours, and a fair bit of our own money, building a proper website, attending events, checking facts, and posting daily across all platforms. We do it because we care about Ilkeston. We’re not here for clicks, drama or payouts.
None of our pages are monetised.
We don’t earn from views, ads or shares.
We offer free advertising to local businesses because we want them to thrive.
And we always write honestly, not influenced by funding, grants or sponsors.
We’re not afraid to have opinions either.
If something’s not right locally, we’ll say so.
If something deserves praise, we’ll shout about it.
We believe in being fair, but we won’t shy away from calling things out when they need calling out.
That’s why it’s frustrating when our work is copied and reposted onto monetised accounts without credit. Every article takes time, effort and research, and we ask that people enjoy it, share it and support it… but please don’t steal it.
Ilkeston News exists to stand up for our town, boost local voices and keep things transparent and fair.
If you follow us, you’re getting news and opinion that’s researched, checked and shared for one reason only: because we love this place.
Thank you for being part of our growing community, and for supporting original, local journalism done the right way.
