There’s only one week to go until Goose Fair lights up Nottingham once again! From Friday 26 September to Sunday 5 October, the historic Forest Recreation Ground will be transformed into a dazzling playground of rides, food, and family fun.
A Fair with 700+ Years of History
Goose Fair isn’t just any fair – it’s one of Europe’s largest travelling funfairs and one of the oldest too, with records showing it was first held in 1284. Back then, it was a market where geese were sold in their thousands (hence the name). Over the centuries it has grown from a bustling trade fair into the spectacular event we know today, attracting visitors from across the UK.
What to Expect in 2025
This year promises to be bigger and better than ever, with more than 350 rides and attractions filling the Forest Recreation Ground. From traditional carousels and dodgems to hair-raising white-knuckle rides, there’s something for thrill-seekers and families alike.
No Goose Fair visit would be complete without sampling the famous food: expect trays of mushy peas, sweet treats, and the quirky Nottingham delicacy Cocks-on-Sticks – a fairground tradition that still raises a smile.
SEND sessions also return this year, running 12pm–1pm on both Sundays, giving children and people with special educational needs and disabilities the chance to enjoy the fun without the usual loud noises and bright lights.
