Carpet shop “definitely open” after ownership change

There’s some positive news for Ilkeston town centre, with a local carpet shop confirmed to be staying open and trading as normal.

United Carpets has told Ilkeston News that the store is “most definitely open”, bringing reassurance after recent uncertainty about its future.

The update follows concerns after the franchise that previously operated the Ilkeston branch – along with two other stores – ceased trading.

The Ilkeston store has now returned to corporate ownership under United Carpets, meaning it is once again being run directly by the company.

In a statement, a spokesperson said:

“The store most definitely is open and business is as usual.
The only difference is the store is now corporate-owned after previously operating as a franchise.”

For customers, it’s very much business as usual, with the same service continuing from the Bath Street store.

The building itself has been put up for sale by the landlord, but this does not affect the day-to-day running of the shop.

The news will come as a welcome boost for the town centre, showing that despite wider challenges, local businesses are still here and serving the community.

If you’ve been thinking about updating your carpets or flooring, now could be a great time to support a local store and pop in.
