A carpet and flooring shop in Ilkeston, United Carpets, remains open despite the company behind it entering voluntary liquidation.
An official notice published in The London Gazette confirms that Trio Carpets Limited passed a resolution to wind up the business on 25 March 2026, with liquidators now appointed to oversee the process.
📍 Three locations linked to company
The notice lists three trading addresses connected to the company:
- Bath Street, Ilkeston
- Nottingham Road, Ripley
- High Street, Alfreton
Despite the development at company level, the Ilkeston shop continues to trade as normal.
🏷️ Ilkeston site now up for sale
The Bath Street premises is also currently being marketed for sale, with a sign displayed outside the shop.
This adds further uncertainty over the long-term future of the site, although there is no indication of any immediate closure.
⚠️ Company records raise concerns
Companies House records show a number of recent issues, including:
- Overdue accounts
- Overdue confirmation statement
- An active proposal to strike off
The company, which was incorporated in 2013, has previously faced strike-off action earlier this year.
❓ What happens next?
When a company enters voluntary liquidation, appointed liquidators assess its financial position and decide how assets should be handled.
This can include:
- Selling parts of the business
- Closing locations
- Or transferring ownership
In some cases, individual shops may continue trading during the process, depending on how they are structured.
At this stage, it remains unclear what the future holds for the Ilkeston store.
Ilkeston News understands the shop remains open at the time of writing. We will keep you updated.
