One of Ilkeston’s best-known fitness and social hubs has been put up for sale, marking the end of an era for a much-loved local venue.
The Manor Health and Leisure Club, on Manners Road, has been listed by business property specialists Christie & Co, opening the door for new ownership after almost two decades under the Hayden family.
The long-established club features international-standard squash courts, a multi-level gym, dance and martial arts studios, a lounge bar, treatment rooms and a large function space used for weddings, parties and community events. The site also includes a catering kitchen and parking for around 50 cars.
The Manor has been part of Ilkeston life since the early 1980s, operating on a membership and pay-as-you-go basis, and serving as a base for local sport and fitness for generations.
The sale is described as a major opportunity for an independent operator or investor to build on the existing facilities, with scope for additional uses such as padel courts, subject to planning approval.
The business is being offered for sale on a long ground lease, believed to have around 52 years remaining, with offers invited through Christie & Co.
Covering approximately 17,000 square feet on a site of just under an acre, the complex also includes a manager’s flat and extensive parking.
