Why we report these cases

We regularly report court cases to give a clear picture of what’s happening locally – both the serious offences and the day-to-day issues affecting the town.

Shop theft, in particular, continues to cause problems for local businesses, with repeated incidents targeting supermarkets and convenience stores across Ilkeston.

While some cases involve relatively low-value items, the wider impact on staff, shop owners and the high street can be significant.
