Hundreds Take Part in ‘10 for Ben’ Charity Run and Walk in Ilkeston

If you were out and about in Ilkeston this morning and wondered why the town was suddenly full of blue and yellow T-shirts, the answer was simple – the community had turned out in force for 10 for Ben.

The charity run and walk saw participants take on either a 10-mile run or a 10km walk, all to raise money for The Ben Parker Trust Fund – Ben’s Den, which supports children and families affected by cancer.

The event started and finished at Nutbrook Cricket Club, where runners, walkers and supporters gathered throughout the morning. The club hosted the event and opened its bar afterwards, giving participants a well-earned chance to celebrate their efforts.

Community Support

The event was a real community effort, with local businesses and organisations stepping up to support the day.

Nutbrook Cricket Club hosted the event and provided facilities for runners and spectators, whilst Gallows Grub opened up, providing free refreshments for the runners.

Local Sponsors

The distinctive blue and yellow event T-shirts were made possible thanks to sponsorship from several local supporters.

Key supporters included:

The shirts were designed and produced by local company, Motifs.

Over £4,000 Raised – Can It Reach £5,000?

With donations still coming in, more than £4,000 has already been raised on the event’s JustGiving page including Gift Aid.

Organisers are now hoping the total could climb even higher in the coming days.
