A man remains in hospital with serious injuries after a police pursuit ended in a collision on Hardy Barn near Ilkeston.
Derbyshire Constabulary has confirmed that officers were pursuing a Volkswagen Golf which had failed to stop on the A6007 in Heanor shortly after 12.15pm on Tuesday, September 8.
The Golf collided with a Volkswagen T-Cross travelling in the opposite direction at Hardy Barn, Shipley.
The driver of the Golf suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital, where he remains.
The driver and passenger of the T-Cross did not suffer serious injuries.
A Ford Fiesta was also damaged by debris from the collision.
The incident led to Hardy Barn being closed between the Mundy Arms and Shipley Motor Company while emergency services dealt with the scene. The road has since reopened.
Police seek man who was almost hit
As part of their investigation, officers are particularly keen to trace an elderly man who was walking his dog in the area at the time.
Police say the man was almost hit by the Golf as he crossed a road between Ilkeston Hospital and Shipley Garden Centre.
Derbyshire Constabulary has also confirmed that it will make a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) because the serious injury occurred as a result of a collision during a police pursuit.
