A development company has announced plans to submit a planning application for 107 new homes on land at Beech Lane, West Hallam.
The proposal, being prepared by Homes by Honey, is expected to be submitted to Erewash Borough Council by the end of March.
What is being proposed?
According to local councillors, the scheme would include:
- 107 homes
- A mix of properties ranging from 1-bed to 5-bed houses
- Development on land opposite Scargill Church of England Primary School
The developer has instructed planning consultants Stat Planning to carry out a public consultation before formally submitting the application.

Residents living closest to the site – around 300 households – are expected to receive a leaflet inviting feedback.

What happens next?
If the planning application is formally submitted, it will then be published on the Erewash Borough Council planning portal, where residents across West Hallam and the wider area will be able to submit official comments.
Only comments submitted through the council’s planning system are considered as part of the formal decision-making process.

Local residents say they are concerned about the potential impact of:
- Traffic, particularly given the site’s location near Scargill Primary School
- Pressure on local infrastructure
- The wider impact on West Hallam
The Parish Council has indicated that it will publish details on its website and local notice boards once further information is available.
