A new men’s social group is launching in Ilkeston, offering a relaxed space for friendship, conversation and games.

Basement Buddies will begin on Tuesday 6 January 2026 at Ilkeston Methodist Church on Bath Street, running every Tuesday afternoon from 2pm to 4pm.

The group is open to all men and aims to provide a friendly, informal environment where people can drop in, meet others and enjoy simple activities together.

What to expect

Basement Buddies is centred around social connection rather than structured sessions. Activities on offer include:

  • Darts
  • Snooker
  • Table tennis
  • General games and conversation

Organisers say the focus is on laughs, good company and creating a welcoming atmosphere for anyone who may be feeling isolated or simply looking to expand their social circle.

Men are welcome to attend on their own, bring a friend, or come along with someone new. There is no pressure to take part in everything, and people can join in at their own pace.

Free and open to all

The group is free to attend and open to all men, with no booking required.

It will be held in the basement area of Ilkeston Methodist Church, which is centrally located on Bath Street and easily accessible from the town centre.
