A former gamekeeper’s house on the historic Shipley estate is set to be auctioned later this month with a guide price of £110,000.
The property, known as Pond House, is located within Shipley Country Park at Mapperley, near Heanor. The detached, two-storey building measures around 900 sq ft and includes three bedrooms.
A link to Shipley’s past
Pond House dates back to the time when the 700-acre estate surrounding the now-demolished Shipley Hall was owned by the Miller Mundy family. It was originally used to house the estate’s gamekeeper and is one of the surviving buildings connected to the former hall.
Shipley Hall itself was demolished in the mid-20th century, but the wider estate later became Shipley Country Park, now a popular destination for walkers, cyclists and families across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
In need of renovation
According to the selling agent, the property requires renovation but offers potential for redevelopment, subject to the necessary consents.
It is due to feature in a live-streamed auction on 26 February, organised by BTG Eddisons Property Auctions. The company is the national brand formed from the merger of regional auction firms Pugh, SDL Property Auctions and Mark Jenkinson.
The guide price has been set at £110,000.
The house sits in a rural parkland setting but is within reach of Derby, Nottingham and the M1.
