Two men have been jailed after making and sharing more than a thousand indecent images of children.
Scott Topley, 46, and Gordon Phillips, 41, were sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on 29 January 2026.
The court heard that Topley was identified after a video was discovered on a mobile phone seized during an unrelated police investigation by another force. In the footage, he was shown performing a sexual act while viewing indecent images of children.
Following enquiries, officers searched the address Topley shared with Phillips on Fall Road, Heanor, and seized electronic devices. Phillips’ device was also found to contain indecent images.
More than a thousand images relating to child sexual abuse were uncovered during the investigation, along with further illegal material.
The pair were charged on 28 May 2025 with:
- Making indecent images of children
- Distributing indecent images of children
- Possessing prohibited images of children
- Possessing extreme pornographic images
They admitted the offences at a hearing on 24 July 2025.
At sentencing, both men were jailed for six years and three months.
They were also made subject to fifteen-year Sexual Harm Prevention Orders and are required to register with police indefinitely.
In a statement, PC Michelle Azizi said:
“Together, Scott Topley and Gordon Phillips relished in their criminality.
They took part in harmful online activities, viewing and sharing child sexual abuse material with other like-minded individuals.
The custodial sentence imposed on them reflects the severe gravity and abhorrent nature of their behaviour.”
