A man who assaulted two people during a fight at an Ilkeston pub and later attacked police officers has been jailed for more than five years.
Zac Creighton, 33, was involved in disorder at The Borough Arms in the early hours of Sunday 20 July last year.
Police were flagged down by door staff who reported a fight had broken out inside the venue.
Officers were told the incident began after Creighton borrowed a lighter from another man and then threw it to the floor.
He then knocked one man to the ground and threw a glass into the face of another man who tried to intervene.
Both victims required hospital treatment following the incident.
When officers approached Creighton, he attempted to run away. During the pursuit, he punched one officer to the head, leaving them with a black eye.
He was arrested at the scene.
During interview, Creighton claimed he had been acting in self-defence but later answered “no comment” to further questions.
Creighton, formerly of Main Street, Horsley Woodhouse, was later charged with wounding with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and assaulting a police officer.
He was also charged in connection with a separate incident in which two tractors were stolen from a business in Pinxton on 8 January.
A metal security guard fitted inside the vehicles had been removed to allow them to be driven away. Creighton’s fingerprints were later found on the guard, linking him to the theft.
He pleaded guilty to all offences.
Creighton was sentenced at Derby Crown Court on Tuesday 10 March to a total of five years and six months in prison.
