Police have secured a full closure order at a property on Jackson Avenue in Ilkeston following concerns about persistent anti-social behaviour or serious crime.
The order was obtained by officers from the Ilkeston Safer Neighbourhood Team under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
It prevents unauthorised people from entering or remaining at the property for three months. Breaching a closure order is a criminal offence.
PC McGrath said: “When a property becomes a hub for criminal activity or nuisance behaviour, it doesn’t just affect the people inside – it impacts the whole neighbourhood.
“This order has to be granted by a judge and we have to evidence fully the necessity for it to be issued.
“This involves partnership working between the police, members of the public and housing agencies.
“Now it has been served and the former residents removed, it means that the whole community can feel safe in their homes again.”
Police have encouraged residents with concerns about similar activity in their neighbourhood to report it.
Information can be provided to Derbyshire Constabulary through its online crime-reporting service, by sending a private message to the force’s Facebook page or by calling 101.
