Children’s Home APPROVED for East Street

On Monday 17th November, Erewash Borough Council has today granted a Lawful Development Certificate for a proposed children’s home at 33 East Street, Ilkeston.

The Council decided that operating the house for two children with rotating live-in carers is not materially different from a standard family household (Use Class C3), meaning no planning permission is required.

No physical changes will be made to the building, and the use is considered to function the same as a typical residential home.

This decision comes just weeks after plans for a seven-bed HMO next door at 32 East Street were refused.
