Ilkeston Theatre Company’s sparkling production of Cinderella has been delighting audiences all week – and with only three performances left, locals are being urged to book quickly before the final curtain comes down.
Early visitors to the show have flooded social media with praise, calling the panto “hilarious,” “heart-warming,” and “magical from start to finish.” Families have highlighted the strong cast, laugh-out-loud comedy moments, and the warm community atmosphere at Presley’s Bar & Suite in Kirk Hallam.
This year’s production is a lively, modern retelling of the classic fairytale, written by James Barry and performed courtesy of Lazybee Scripts. The story follows poor Cinderella, tormented by her “high-class” wannabe step-mother and wicked step-sisters. Her loyal friend Buttons is always by her side – even if he can’t quite bring himself to reveal his true feelings.
There’s also competition in the form of a not-too-bright Prince Charming and his long-suffering sidekick, Dandini. And of course, no pantomime would be complete without a sparkling Fairy Godmother, whose magic brings a few unexpected mishaps along the way.
Packed with corny jokes, slapstick, lively musical numbers and a couple of surprising twists, this family-friendly show brings plenty of festive magic to Kirk Hallam.
