Ilkeston Hosts Blue Light Weekend This Saturday and Sunday

Ilkeston will host a special Blue Light Weekend this weekend as part of Operation Sceptre – the national week of action focused on tackling knife crime and raising awareness across communities.

Derbyshire Police are working with Ilkeston Town Football Club, emergency services teams and youth engagement officers to deliver two public events aimed at educating, supporting and protecting young people in the town.

📅 SATURDAY 22 NOVEMBER

‘Shattered – Knives Shatter Lives’ at Ilkeston Town FC

From 12pm to 3pm on Saturday, officers from the Ilkeston Safer Neighbourhood Team will be at the New Manor Ground for a joint anti–knife crime event with Ilkeston Town Football Club.

The session supports the police’s ‘Shattered – knives shatter lives’ campaign, raising awareness of the dangers and long-term consequences of knife crime.

Officers will be available from midday, with planned activities, information stalls and the chance to speak directly with those working on the frontline.

The club’s backing is seen as a key way to reach young people in a positive, familiar setting.

📅 SUNDAY 23 NOVEMBER

Blue Light Emergency Services Day – Ilkeston Market Place

On Sunday, from 11am to 3pm, officers from the Safer Neighbourhood and Youth Engagement Teams will be joined by a full range of emergency services in Ilkeston Market Place for a family-friendly Blue Light Day.

Teams attending include:

A Weekend of Community Safety

Both events are free, open to all ages and mark the end of the force’s week-long Operation Sceptre intensification effort.

Police are encouraging people across Ilkeston to come along, show their support and help spread the message: knives shatter lives.
