Run or walk ’10 for Ben’ as charity event returns to Nutbrook

Residents are being invited to pull on their trainers and take part in a friendly charity run or walk this March in support of The Ben Parker Trust Fund – Ben’s Den Charity.

The Run / Walk 10 for Ben event will take place on Sunday 8 March, starting and finishing at Nutbrook Cricket Club in West Hallam.

The event is designed to be inclusive and sociable rather than competitive, with participants able to choose between a 10km walk or a 10-mile run, both led by walk and run leaders along fully mapped routes.

What’s happening on the day

Registration opens at 9.00am, including collection of event T-shirts for those who sign-up before 18 February.
Both the walk and run will start at 10.00am.

Both routes begin and end at the cricket club on High Lane East, where participants can relax afterwards with refreshments from the bar.

  • 10km walk – approximately 2 hours
  • 10-mile run – approximately 1 hour 40 minutes

Organisers say the event is open to all ages, with pushchairs welcome and the route also dog friendly.

Free event T-shirts for early sign-ups

Anyone who signs up before midnight on Wednesday 18 February will receive a free Ben’s Den special event T-shirt. Entries after this date are still welcome, although T-shirts cannot be guaranteed due to production times.

Entry costs £10 per person, which goes directly to charity. Sign-ups and donations can be made via JustGiving.

Entertainment and support

The day will also feature live music from Danny Graves, with the Duke of Scoop ice cream van expected to attend, weather permitting.

Organisers have thanked Nutbrook Cricket Club for hosting the event, as well as local businesses who have sponsored the event T-shirts, including Renshaw Wealth, AFPT (Adam Fretwell Personal Trainer), Matt Hudson Building & Roofing, Kev Hill Window Cleaning Services and Belfield Leisure. The event materials were designed and produced by Motifs.

Everyone welcome

Those who are unable to take part in the walk or run are still encouraged to come along to support participants, cheer them on, or make a donation on the day.

Organisers hope to see the local roads and trails filled with Ben’s Den blue and yellow, raising both funds and awareness for the charity.
